Terms of Service
Effective date: Upon public launch
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Al-Umrah service (“Service”), operated by Dot & Drape LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Nature of the service
Al-Umrah is an informational religious-guidance assistant. It uses a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system to answer questions about Umrah and Hanafi fiqh by drawing on a curated corpus of classical Islamic texts and scholarly sources.
Important — not a substitute for a qualified scholar
Answers provided by this Service are AI-generated. They are informational in nature and carry citations to their source texts so you can verify them. They are not fatwas and not binding religious rulings. For questions with personal legal significance — relating to specific circumstances, a dam (penalty), or a binding ruling — you must consult a qualified mufti or Islamic scholar directly. The scholar- escalation pathway built into the Service (which flags uncertain or high-risk questions for human scholar review) is a best-effort safety feature; it does not constitute a fatwa service and does not create a scholar-client relationship.
Every answer is accompanied by citations identifying the classical source text on which it relies. You are encouraged to read the primary sources yourself. The Service does not guarantee that any answer is complete, current, or applicable to your specific circumstances.
Acceptable use
By using the Service you agree that you will not:
- Use the Service to generate content that is abusive, harassing, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful to others.
- Attempt to circumvent or manipulate the scholar-escalation system, rate limits, guest limits, or any other safety or access controls.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, scripts) to access the Service without our prior written consent.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or reproduce the underlying corpus, embeddings, or model pipeline.
- Misrepresent outputs from the Service as independent scholarly opinions or fatwas.
- Use the Service in any manner that violates applicable law or regulation.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate these Terms.
Accounts and billing
Guest access (without an account) is limited to 3 messages. Creating a free account allows up to 5 messages per rolling 30-day window. A Premium subscription ($4.99/month) allows up to 100 messages per rolling 24-hour window.
Subscriptions are billed monthly through Clerk Billing. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain Premium access until then and no partial-period refunds are issued.
Plan limits and pricing may change. We will provide at least 30 days’ notice before any price increase takes effect for existing subscribers.
No warranty
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any answers are theologically accurate, applicable to your jurisdiction, or suitable for your specific circumstances.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, Dot & Drape LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) [MINIMUM_LIABILITY_AMOUNT].
Intellectual property
The Al-Umrah software, design, and proprietary corpus curation are owned by Dot & Drape LLC and protected by copyright and other intellectual property law. The underlying classical texts in the corpus are in the public domain.
You retain ownership of the questions you submit. By submitting questions you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process and store them for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via a notice within the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
